Employment Policies

ANNUAL EEO PUBLIC FILE REPORT

June 1, 2008 to May 31, 2009

Utah Public Radio

KUSU-FM and KUSR

Part 1 – Full time positions filled

Utah Public Radio (Station KUSU-FM and Station KUSR) has filled zero full-time job vacancies for the period from June 1, 2008 to May 31, 2009.

Part 2 – Recruitment source information

No positions were filled for the period from June 1, 2008 to May 31, 2009. If we had any positions to fill, we would have used the following recruitment source information:

Utah Public Radio Web Site / KUSU and KUSR

Utah State University Web Site

Corporation for Public Broadcasting Web Site

"Current" Newspaper

Public Radio computer list group

National Public Radio jobs listing

Utah Workforce Services (jobs.utah.gov) through linking USU web site.

Part 3 (Prong 3 Longer-Term Recruitment initiatives) Implemented During the Period

Utah Public Radio Station (Station KUSU-FM and Station KUSR) is owned and operated by Utah State University and is, in fact, a department of the University. USU operates an HR Office and an AA/EO Office (including equal employment opportunity). These two offices serve the University and provide appropriate services to each department of USU, including KUSU-FM and KUSR.

For positions that may need to be filled in the future, the search process will be coordinated by the Office of Human Resources and the Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Office, and representing all of the departments at USU. The events and activities listed on the following page would be conducted:

All part-time (non-benefited) positions are coordinated through the office of "Student, Part-time and Temporary Employment" at USU. These job openings are listed on a job-listing board, on Utah Public Radio web-site, and announced on air.

As a department within Utah State University, Utah Public Radio has opportunity for visibility and participation at regularly scheduled job-fairs and career fairs held by USU and the State of Utah Workforce Services. This form of outreach allows Utah Public Radio to reach large numbers of potential employees.

As a department within USU, Utah Public Radio also has the opportunity for extending its outreach potential through initiatives developed and implemented by the Office of Human Resources and the Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Office.

These initiatives include:

1. Activities designed by the station employment unit reasonably calculated to further the goal of disseminating information as to employment opportunities in broadcasting to job candidates who might otherwise be unaware of such opportunities. The USU HR Office maintains an electronic application system called "PeopleAdmin." It has allowed computer applications and data review by the AA/EO Office to determine where additional efforts are required to increase minority and women applications and work on specific programs to enhance applications by underrepresented groups. New ways of using this system are ongoing. For example, access to a demographic summary of the applicant pool is now available at any time to search committees to review their efforts to attract a broad and diverse applicant pool.

2. Use of an electronic advertising site - "HigherEdJobs.com" continued through this time period. This site includes a service to provide focused contact with qualified women and minorities in specific areas.
