2018 Primary Election Results

Mitt Romney defeated opponent Mike Kennedy to win the Utah GOP primary race Tuesday.  Romey will face Democrat Jenny Wilson in November’s general election to fill the seat of retiring Sen. Orrin Hatch.

There were two primary races for seats in Congress. In the U.S. Congressional District 3 race, Christopher N. Herrod conceded to John Curtis in the Republican primary. Curtis received 74.35 percent of the vote.

Lee  Castillo will represent the Democratic Party in the U.S. Congressional District 1 race against Republican incumbent Rob Bishop.  

In primaries for State Senate seats Scott Sandall held a lead over Clark N. Davis Tuesday to be a Republican contender for State Senate District 17 with 52.82 percent of the vote to represent areas of Box Elder, Cache, and Tooele counties.

In the race for State Senate District 26, to represent Daggett, Duchesne, Uintah, Summitt and Wasatch counties Ronald Winterton has received the majority vote for the Republican nomination. Democratic contender Eileen Gallagher will represent that party in the Senate District race come November.

At 14-years-old, Kerry began working as a reporter for KVEL “The Hot One” in Vernal, Utah. Her radio news interests led her to Logan where she became news director for KBLQ while attending Utah State University. She graduated USU with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and spent the next few years working for Utah Public Radio. Leaving UPR in 1993 she spent the next 14 years as the full time mother of four boys before returning in 2007. Kerry and her husband Boyd reside in Nibley.
