Branding Experts To Advise Logan Businesses

Cache Chamber of Commerce

Community branding experts from Roger Brooks International are in Logan this week. Julie Hollist-Terrill of the Cache Valley Visitors Bureau said Brooks representatives are secretly shopping downtown businesses.

“I am kinda nervous about it, and I am kinda excited too,” said Hollist-Terrill. “It is nice to have somebody who has really completely fresh eyes to come into our community and observe things.”

After attending a presentation by Roger Brooks in Salt Lake City, Hollist-Terrill made the decision to partner with the Utah Office of Tourism to fund an assessment that could help businesses improve customer service, enhance curb appeal, and eventually become more profitable.

“Because I want to have all of the people who come here to visit to have great experiences. I want them posting great things on social media and I want them telling all of their friends that the best place that they have ever visited is Logan, Utah and they sure need to go there to visit,” she said.

A similar assessment was done in Brigham City to provide what Hollist-Terrill said are low-cost solutions to help increase business revenues. She said the secret shoppers team will provide feedback on ways to improve amenities in downtown Logan. Parking, community signage, parks, and customer service will also be reviewed.

“He’s got a couple of people on his team, and they really are going to be undercover” said Hollist-Terrill. “I don’t even know who is coming. He and his team will be throughout our community, just taking a look at everything they can possibly see in four days”.

Brooks will present the groups findings and recommendations during a public meeting Friday, July 15, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at the Cache County Historic Courthouse, 199 N. Main Street, Logan.

First impression are important and Hollist-Terrill expects the team to discuss ways municipal leaders, downtown business owners, and community event planners can work together to showcase Logan as a destination for investments and as a place to live and work.

Photos taken by the secret shoppers will be used to help demonstrate what is being done well to attract tourism and encourage shoppers. Friday’s presentation will also include data that will be gathered and made available to businesses interested in increasing first-time sales.
