Child Safety: Organization Provides Resource For Missing Children

operationkidsafe.org

In 2014, the U.S. issued 186 Amber Alerts involving 239 children. When children go missing, there are ways parents can help law enforcement with the search. One option is Operation KidSafe.

“We work with thousands of law enforcement agencies all across the world, and the resounding comment from any police authority is when they arrive on the scene the parent is curled up in a ball in the corner. It's understandable," Operation KidSafe Founder Mark Bott said. "But you need to be on point to help find your child.”

In the event of an emergency, parents who have obtained the resources through Operation KidSafe have the capability to get information out to law enforcement quickly

In the event of an emergency, parents who have obtained the resources through Operation KidSafe have the capability to get information out to law enforcement quickly, Bott said.

Here’s how it works:

“You come in with your child. You step up to the machine. There’s a photo taken of the child, then the 10 digital fingerprints," Bott said. "There’s no ink. No film. No mess. Then a bio-document, which is a heavyweight card stock document, is printed out right in front of the parent, handed to the parent, the parent would then take that home, keep that accessible and they would hand it only to law enforcement in an emergency."

In its 14th year, Operation KidSafe equips families with the necessary information to speed up the search process. The program has safeguarded one million children.
