Gail Miller, owner of the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies, is author of a new book, “Courage to be You: Inspiring Lessons from an Unexpected Journey.” She will be the keynote speaker at United Way of Cache Valley’s Annual Fundraising Dinner on May 24. She joins us for the first half of today’s program o talk about motherhood, work/life balance, navigating the business world as a woman after the death of her husband, and finding her voice and identity.
In the second half, we’ll focus on the new Sego Awards, which honor female entrepreneurs and business leaders in Utah. We’ll talk with Allison Lew, founder of Braid, a Utah company that provides workshops for entrepreneurs. Lew is a co-founder of the Sego Awards. We’ll also talk with Jenny Wecker, founder and CEO of Fawn Design, which makes designer diaper and parent accessory backpacks. She won a Sego Award for “Fastest Growing Company Under Five Years.”
Gail Miller is owner of the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies and Chair of the Board of Directors of Larry H. Miller Management Corporation. Gail and her late husband, Larry, started their business with a single Toyota dealership in 1979. The Larry H. Miller Group of Companies has grown to include more than 60 car dealerships throughout the West, the Utah Jazz, the Salt Lake City Stars, the Salt Lake Bees, theatre complexes, sports apparel stores, and a variety of other automotive, financial, and real estate companies. Today, the privately-owned Larry H. Miller Group of Companies employs more than 11,000 people. Gail and her late husband Larry created a strong legacy of giving back to the communities in which they do business. Gail presides over the Larry H. Miller Education Foundation and the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation, which support a wide range of charitable, educational and humanitarian causes.
