A student at Gunnison Valley High School is in custody and facing multiple sexual abuse charges.

The 16-year-old student was arrested Friday afternoon and charged in the county’s juvenile court with six counts of first-degree felony object rape and five charges of second-degree felony forcible sexual abuse.

According to South Sanpete School District Superintendent Kent Larsen, the allegations involve multiple students at the High School.

Larsen also says the school district and Student Resource Officer investigated claims of abuse last week. He says the main concern for his administration is the safety of all students.

Nine or ten students were assaulted by the boy according to Sanpete County Attorney Kevin Daniels and reported by KSL.

Court documents list the alleged offenses happening on Sept. 17.

Larsen says the investigation is ongoing by the school district and police.
