Thieves Hit Another Southern Utah Construction Site

Chris Holmes

The upswing in construction southern Utah comes with mostly positive economic benefits to the community, but there is a downside: the corresponding increase in job-site burglaries.

Late Saturday night or sometime Sunday, thieves used bolt cutters to cut through locks on the outer gate as well as on containers and trailers storing expensive construction tools and equipment at a construction site on Airport Road in Cedar City.

“The site was locked and secured. They cut through that,” said Mac Urie, one of the contractors who lost valuable tools. “I guess the only thing we should of have set up was a camera, possibly.

Cedar City police are investigating and asking the public to share any information that might lead to those responsible.

The Cedar City incident follows a similar case at a construction site on River Road in St. George last weekend.
