Vehicle Stop In Southern Utah Leads To Discovery Of Twice-Stolen Vehicle, Manhunt

At just after 4 a.m. Tuesday morning, a St. George Police Officer pulled over a pickup truck for speeding on Interstate-15. A check of the vehicle's license plate showed it to be stolen out of Colorado, the truck itself stolen out of Wyoming. When the officer ordered the driver out of the vehicle, the suspects fled.

A sort time later the vehicle was found, abandoned and with a flat tire. Law enforcement from Utah and Arizona began looking for two men and two women. Cpt. Mike Jiles of St. George Police Department said it was a multi-agency effort.
"UHP was called in, they sent down a helicopter to help with the aerial search. Washington County Sheriff's Office responded at the onset to help with the initial search and canvas. We called in extra resources and officers so we'd have some personel out in the area," Jiles said.

Later in the morning, there was a report of a stolen vehicle in a residential area nearby, but in the afternoon, Arizona law enforcement apprehended three of the suspects, one man and two women, on foot just south of the Utah-Arizona border.

The fourth suspect has not been found. It is not known whether that suspect is responsible for the reported stolen vehicle.
