Wind-Driven Fire Chars Grassland On Farm In Southern Utah

USGS

Wildfires continue to burn throughout Utah and are fanned by windy conditions. A Monday afternoon fire quickly moved through about six acres of dry grass in Cedar City destroying buildings and other structures.

The call came in just before 3:00 p.m. The cause of the fire is still under investigation said Cedar City Police Public Information Officer Jerry Womack.

“The fire blew to be about six acres and destroyed some outbuildings, some livestock corrals – things of that nature. Burned a lot of grass,” said Womack.

No Livestock was in the area. Fire fighters from Cedar City, Utah Forestry and State Lands, The BLM and U.S. Forest Service all responded with equipment to the fire.
