   In 2011, Alan Hashimoto, a professor from Utah State University, created the Logan Film Festival with some of his students. Hashimoto passed away one year after the festival's premiere, leaving his students to continue the festival, along with producer Mason Johnson.

After protests from residents, plans to build a controversial 120-unit apartment complex in downtown Logan were ultimately canceled. 

Though the controversy surrounding the apartments has ended, the questions it raised remain: What exactly is in the plans for downtown Logan, and how will it be interpreted in the future? How will preservation and growth be balanced?

On a Wednesday morning, Garff Wayside Gardens is a quiet, peaceful park, where you can hear water in the nearby stream and the traffic of 100 East as it passes. For at least the time being, the park will stay as it is.
