  A growing Utah wildfire near a popular fishing reservoir has forced the closure of U.S. Highway 40.

High winds, heat and very dry conditions are fueling the fire near Strawberry Reservoir, about 80 miles (130 kilometers) southeast of Salt Lake City. Officials say it has burned 66 square miles (171 square kilometers) and destroyed about 30 structures.

A Utah man is pleading not guilty to criminal charges in a massive Utah wildfire that destroyed 13 homes and cost some $40 million to fight.

Court records show Robert Ray Lyman entered the plea Tuesday to misdemeanor reckless burning and burning without a permit counts filed in the fire that torched more than 100 square miles this summer.

An analysis of wildfire data by the Center for Western Priorities compared the risk of wildfires on federally managed public lands and state-owned lands.

Utah State Forester Brian Cottam said "stupid human tricks" have led to the states' wildfire bill being double what it usually is.

Cottam says the cost to Utah for this year's wildfires is projected to be $18 million, while the state's yearly average is $9 million.
