Cache Valley Hospital Hosting Opioid Take Back Event

Cache Valley Hospital is hosting a “Crush the Crisis” opioid take back day in an effort to raise awareness about the dangers of opioid misuse and proper disposal of medications.

Community members can participate at this drive through event on Saturday at Cache Valley Hospital’s main entrance roundabout. Staff will safely and anonymously be collecting unused or expired prescriptions from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. The event corresponds with the Drug Enforcement Administration's (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

Opioid addiction is a national health crisis that’s been skyrocketing since the coronavirus pandemic began, due to Americans’ feelings of anxiety, grief and stress. According to the American Medical Association (AMA), 40 states have reported increases in opioid-related mortality.
