Crossing Borders: 11-Year-Old Boy Walking Across Country To Raise Diabetes Awareness

Barnes Family
Noah Barnes is walking from Florida to Washington raise money for diabetes awareness.

Eleven-year-old Noah Barnes and his family are traveling across the country in the name of diabetes. But while his mom is driving the family car, Noah and his dad are walking ever mile from southern Florida to Washington State on foot.

UPR’s Matilyn Mortensen met up with the two of them in September, just outside of Utah in southern Idaho and tells us more about their journey.

The UPR Original Series "Crossing Borders" is a yearlong storytelling project between UPR and the USU Office of Global Engagement - providing services for international students and scholars; and facilitating study abroad opportunities for students and faculty. Details found here

Editors Note: The audio in this story says Robert Barnes is biking to the West Coast.  This is incorrect, he is biking to the East Coast.
