The Department Will Visit Communities Within The State In The Coming Months

Department of Workforce Services representatives visited with locals Tuesday morning to discuss the resources available at the Logan Employment Center.

“Considering a rainy morning, we got a good turnout,” said Jon Pierpont, executive director of the department. “And that makes us happy as we plan for a good event today.”

Pierpont, said while people generally know there’s an employment center, they may not know about all the resources they can use.

“That’s part of the intent of today’s visit is to create an additional awareness on other types of programs and services the department administers,” Pierpont said.

He said these programs and services include the office of childcare, refugee services and labor market information that the department puts out.

While the event was open to everyone, Workforce Services invited what its public information officer Nic Dunn described as “movers and shakers in the community”, such as local legislators, educators and business leaders.

“It’s a big benefit to have these key thought leaders and economic leaders and innovators in the community here in the same room to see what’s out there, to learn it, and then to take that back to their groups as well,” Dunn said.

Dunn said in the coming months, the Department of Workforce Services plans to visit other places in the state including central and southern Utah and the Uintah Basin, but there are no set dates yet.
