Once upon a time, Melissa believed a teacher who told her she would never amount to anything; a guy in high school who stood her up at the senior prom and made her feel unworthy of love; and a friend who said she was fat and an embarrassment.    One day, Melissa looked at herself in the mirror, told herself to stop listening to people’s destructive words, and instead walk into a room like there’s a party being thrown in her honor. EAT CAKE. BE BRAVE. takes the reader on a life journey that should have killed Melissa, but made her funnier instead. It is a story of unexpectedly discovering oneself and remembering to celebrate life and those you love, with a slice of cake too, of course (except for carrot.)  A Texan born and bred, Melissa Radke spent 15 years of her life in Nashville, Tennessee, where she worked as a studio session singer for Recording Artists after graduating from Belmont University. Melissa’s “Upside Down French Braid” video has close to 10 million views and her “Red Ribbon” video has been viewed over 100 million times across multiple websites and media outlets. Her family has recently wrapped the shooting of their T.V. pilot, with the series premiere date to be announced in the future. Melissa has always been destined for the stage, so for the last several years she has traveled all over the United States bringing laughter and encouragement to civic organizations, hospitals, schools, corporate events, churches and gatherings. Since becoming a parent, Melissa moved her family back to her East Texas hometown because the barbecue is better and the babysitting is free.
