An Enoch man is dead, his passenger injured after the Jeep he was driving left the mountain highway near the Iron and Kane County line, and rolled down an embankment during a Thanksgiving Day snow storm.
Around 10 a.m. Thursday, 80-year-old Edwin Hackley was driving eastbound on SR-14 near Navajo Lake in snowy conditions. The Jeep Wrangler spun off the road, hitting a large rock, then rolled about 40 feet down a steep embankment. Mr. Hackley was ejected and died on scene.
The crash was called in by a passing snowplow driver about an hour and a half after it occurred. 76-year-old Karen Hackley, a passenger in the vehicle was treated at the scene and transported by ambulance to Cedar City Hospital.
