Fire Restrictions Lifted In Central Utah Because Of Recent Rain

idaho.gov

Fire managers have rescinded fire restrictions on all unincorporated private lands, state lands and BLM lands in central Utah. This includes all of Sanpete, Juab, Millard, Sevier, Wayne and Piute Counties.

Fire managers are crediting recent rains with helping create safer conditions. But campfires are still restricted to designated camping sites.

According to Jill Ivie, a fire manager with the BLM, it’s pretty common to lift restrictions around the end of August. This year was drier, but officials say forecasted rains will help alleviate the fire danger.

Stage one fire restrictions are still in place in Canyon Range in the Fillmore Ranger District.

Fire managers are urging caution as wildfire danger still exists. Fireworks and exploding targets are always prohibited on public lands, and permits for burning debris are always required and strictly enforced.
