Gov. Gary Herbert says Utah's strict new DUI threshold is here to stay.
Herbert said at a press conference Thursday that while there may be some tweaks to the 0.05 percent blood alcohol limit taking effect Dec. 30, it won't be repealed or delayed.
Herbert also says he wants changes to a Utah lawmaker's proposal this year barring abortions sought because a fetus has been diagnosed with Down syndrome. The governor says he's concerned because the Legislature's lawyers have warned it's likely unconstitutional.
The governor says he opposes abortion but he's worried about passing an unconstitutional law.
Herbert says he's working with the bill's sponsor, Rep. Karianne Lisonbee, to see if there's a way to somehow make the proposal constitutional. He didn't know Thursday what changes would need to be made to make the proposal constitutional.
