Intermountain Healthcare Facilities To Require Masks After Statewide Mandate Ends

Intermountain Healthcare announced Friday that, although Utah’s statewide mask mandate ends on April 10, mask guidelines for Intermountain staff, patients and visitors will remain intact until further notice.According to a news release, Intermountain is keeping the mandates because caregivers following PPE (person protective gear) guidelines have been “extraordinary” in keeping each other and patients safe.

Another reason why Intermountain isn’t changing its policy is because of the risk of transmission of COVID-19 variants that continue to be concerning, especially with increased movement between counties and states.

Eddie Stenehjem, Intermountain infectious diseases physician, said the guidelines have worked and that “it’s important to continue our focus on patient and caregiver safety.”
