Latter-day Saint Handbook Update Encourages Welcoming Refugees, Avoiding Politics

Recent updates to the handbook for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints include guidance to welcome refugees and keep church environments free of politics.

On Wednesday, the updates were announced in a letter sent to church officers, authorities and leaders. The changes were made at the direction of the church’s First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Wednesday’s was the sixth section of updates in the last 18 months as the church works to create one General Handbook.
