Federal judges are being asked by lawyers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to toss out a lawsuit made by James Huntsman in March accusing the faith’s leaders of fraud and demanding the return of millions of dollars in tithing, according to reports from the Salt Lake Tribune.

On Wednesday, in a new court filing seeking to shut down the case, church attorneys that Huntsman lacks a valid legal argument to bring the claim to recover his donations made between 1993 and 2017, which he argues were deceptively spent by church leaders.
