Logan Woman Allegedly Fakes Cancer, Steals Thousands

Police say a Logan woman who raised thousands of dollars after claiming to have a rare form of brain cancer falsified her claims. Leslie Jensen raised $17,000 at a fundraiser in early November.

“Basically, we don’t know where that money went, we don’t know if it still exists, if it’s been spent. This is an ongoing investigation at this point,” said Logan Police Chief Gary Jensen.

He said his department was tipped off by a victim advocacy group investigating potential fraud. Gary Jensen said the case is sure to develop as more people come forward as victims, with possible additional charges to the nine currently pending.

“We anticipate the possibility of more people coming forward, claiming to be victims where they’ve donated to this cause or person. At that point those charges could be modified, there could be greater ability to prove cases coming forward,” Gary Jensen said.

Leslie Jensen is currently at Logan Regional Hospital, she has not been booked into jail.
