Navajo Nation To Receive $50 Million For Affordable Housing Funding

According to a news release, the Navajo Nation is scheduled to receive nearly $50 million of funding from the American Rescue Plan to help carry out affordable housing activities.The announcement came Thursday when U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marcia L. Fudge announced $450 million in Indian Housing Block Grants to help tribes respond to COVID-19. 

 

Eligible activities for the funds include housing development, modernization of existing housing, operation and maintenance, housing management services, crime prevention, safety activities and more.

 

Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez says his administration has been meeting with the White House and other federal agencies daily to “maximize the benefits for the Navajo people” and communities in the long-term.
