One man was found dead Friday morning in Logan; another man is in custody.

A 23-year-old man is dead after a domestic dispute early Friday morning in Logan. Police rushed to an apartment complex on Riverbend Road after receiving a 911 call claiming there were gunshots.

When police arrived at the scene they found two women performing CPR on the 23-year-old man lying on the ground with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. Shortly after, a 26-year-old man confessed to the shooting and was taken to the police department for investigation.

Details have not been released regarding why the man was shot, but police do know that both men had dated one of the women performing CPR. In addition to the two men and two women, there were also four children under the age of seven in the apartment. Two of the children belonged to the man who was shot, one belonged to the man who fired the shots, and one belonged to a woman, with no details on who the father is. Of those children, a two-year-old may have been in the room when the shots were fired.

Logan City Police Captain Tyson Budge said it's not often that we see shootings in Cache Valley.

“It’s a very tragic incident right now, a lot of high emotions and we hope to be able to prevent these kinds of things, but it’s just unfortunate,” he said.

The women and children were taken to the Cache County Children’s Justice Center to receive food and shelter while the investigation continues.
