Parents Of Lauren McCluskey Dismiss Lawsuit After Multi-Million Dollar Settlement

The parents of murdered University of Utah student Lauren McCluskey ended their federal lawsuit Tuesday after reportedly collecting their nearly $14 million settlement from the state and university. According to a report from KUTV, a judge signed an order dismissing Jill and Matt McCluskey’s case with prejudice, meaning it can’t ever be filed again.

The settlement agreement was reached and announced last year. Earlier this month, the Utah legislature unanimously approved the payment. The state paid $10.5 million to the McCluskeys and the university donated $3 million to the Lauren McCluskey Foundation.

McCluskey was shot and killed on campus by her ex-boyfriend Melvin Rowland in 2018.
