Round-up of Utah Coronavirus Updates for Wednesday, March 18

Between the earthquake and cornoavirus news, there has been a lot to keep up with on Wednesday. Here are some of the newest developments with COVID-19.

First Confirmed Cache County Cases

The Bear River Health Department announced on Wednesday the first two confirmed cases of coronavirus in Cache County. On Tuesday, they announced the first case in Box Elder County. 

The announcement on the department's website stated that inividuals who have come in close contact with the confirmed cases will be notified by the health department. 

Over-all State Cases

The number of cases in Utah has grown to 63. Utah residents account for 53 of these cases, the number of out-of-state visitors with confirmed cases remains at 10. Utah County officials announced their first case on Wednesday and it appears to be community spread. 

Utah State University Cancels Commencement Ceremonies

In an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, USU announced today they would be canceling all commencement ceremonies this spring. A press release from the university states they plan to honor all graduates at a later time and will provide more details soon.

All other higher education institutions in the state are canceling or postponing commencement events this spring.
