School Cafeterias Hit By Supply And Worker Shortages

Similar to how there have been shortages of computer chips and new cars, there is a shortage of foods that supply school cafeterias in Utah and around the country.Canyons and Granite school districts say they are making last minute changes to school menus to accommodate the changes made by the suppliers who can’t fulfill some items on certain food orders.

Director of nutrition services for Canyons School District Sebasthian Varas says it's been a lot of work, but his staff is working hard to ensure students still have healthy food options.

Current shortages include canned fruit, chicken products and peanut butter and jelly. Paper and cleaning products are also in short supply.
