As Schools Reopen, Utah Governor Urges Virus Vigilance

Gov. Gary Herbert has urged people to continue wearing masks and social distancing even as Utah’s coronavirus case counts decline. As schools reopen with a mix of in-person and online learning, Herbert said Thursday they will need to be flexible because there’s no way to ensure a “zero risk” scenario.

Herbert also emphasized the importance for all teachers, students and staff to comply with the the statewide mask mandate as schools reopen. He added that every school district has a plan in case an outbreak occurs. The state had an average of about 350 confirmed cases per day over the last week.
