Officials at the Saint George public transit system, called SunTran, are considering changing up their bus routes.

“We provide a big bus that goes around SunTran all day long and provides rides to about 1600 hundred a day,” said Fred Davies, manager of SunTran.

Davies said the city is deciding between three different bus route options that will be apart of a 10-year transportation plan.

"Those options are tradeoffs between maximum coverage and faster service. The other change on some of those options is to take the routes out of the loop format where people get on one place and they have to go clear around the loop to get off even a block or two away and they’ll run out and back on the same road."

The city will hold meetings Wednesday 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at St. George City Hall in the city council room to solicit feedback regarding potential changes to the bus routes.

SunTran provides rides to 470 thousand people a year, particularly young families.
