A state lawmaker who tested positive for the coronoavirus has said she is continuing to work from home to make sure Utah’s most vulnerable communities are not overlooked during this crisis.
State Senator, and former Salt Lake City mayoral candidate, Luz Escamilla confirmed Sunday that she tested positive for the coronavirus. She and her family have been quarantined.
In a statement, Escamilla called for immediate steps to be taken to remove the threat of evictions and fees in the event that people are unable to pay rent. And, she is calling for support.
Additionally, she is asking for support of Utah's tribal communities, communities with limited English proficiency and people experiencing homelessness.
