Sugar House Pond To Be Drained Early This Year

Salt Lake County and City Officials announced on Monday that the pond at Sugar House Park will be drained early due to low water levels. Water feeds to the pond through Parley’s Creek, which is currently dry and causing the low water levels in the pond.

The pond is typically drained in the fall, but officials said that low water levels and hot weather led to bacteria outbreaks of avian botulism. According to the press release, there is currently no threat to human or pet health at the pond. The pond drainage is scheduled to occur this week.
