A teen has been arrested for vandalizing and damaging an LDS church in Davis County

A 16-year-old has been arrested after police say he vandalised and damaged a meetinghouse of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Syracuse Fire Department responded to the church around 1 a.m. Saturday morning to find the building to be filled with smoke. Firefighters discovered that the sprinkler system had extinguished a fire. Crews say there was extensive water and property damage caused by the fire.

The church was also vandalized on the outside with graffiti of profanities and phallic drawings.

The teen was booked into a juvenile detention facility after he was arrested around 2 p.m. on Saturday.
