UDOT Aims To Remove All Traffic Lights From Bangerter Highway

The Utah Department of Transportation is aiming to continue gradually remove the traffic lights from Bangerter Highway.

The goal is to make the highway better resemble I-15 and to reduce travel times and congestion. According to UDOT, Bangerter Highway currently moves around 60,000 vehicles each day. The department anticipates driving delays to increase by four times over the next 25 years due to continued growth in the Salt Lake Valley.

UDOT is currently performing State Environmental Studies to evaluate improvements for the intersections. Construction for two of the areas has already been planned for 2023.
