COVID cases have been on the rise in Utah for several weeks now. But according to new modeling data, the number of cases could decline soon. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention tracks a number of models. The “ensemble model'' shows a dip in cases nationwide for the next few weeks. The Utah numbers are also expected to drop, but not as dramatically.
Some longer-term models looking at the next six months are showing that cases will decrease nationwide, meaning fewer hospitalizations and deaths. However, other models are starting to make guesses about waning immunity from the vaccine, and their projections are showing an increase in cases early next year.
