Utah Firefighters Sent to California To Assist With Dixie Fire

Several Utah fire departments have deployed crews to assist in the Dixie Fire currently burning in California. It is the largest fire in the state’s history and the primary reason for the thick smoke in Utah and other western states.Crews From Draper, West Valley, Murray, Orem and Cedar City set out Monday morning from the Maverik Center.

Utah crews were expected to be called to help because of the sheer size of the Dixie Fire. It has grown to nearly 490,000 acres and was only 21 percent contained as of Monday morning.

The fire has been burning for four weeks and has destroyed at least 627 homes and other structures so far.
