Utah Group Files Lawsuit To Nullify COVID-19 Restrictions

A group in Utah has filed a lawsuit against the governor and Department of Health alleging that restrictions imposed because of the coronavirus pandemic infringe on their rights.

Morgan Philpot, a lawyer for the plaintiffs, requested in the lawsuit filed last week that a judge nullify all state executive orders related to the coronavirus. The Standard-Examiner reports the office of Gov. Gary Herbert could not be reached for comment on Monday. The state Department of Health reports that as of Monday, Utah has experienced 55,033 confirmed cases, 3,225 hospitalizations and 423 deaths as a result of the coronavirus.
