State education officials say Utah's high school graduation rate grew slightly this year, marking the fifth straight year of increases.

The State Board of Education said Monday that 40,100 students graduated this spring, putting the high school graduation rate at 86 percent.

Utah's 2016 rate was 85 percent.

Education officials reported higher graduation rates this year among American Indian, Hispanic, Pacific Islander and white students, along with increases among economically disadvantaged students or those learning English.
