Utah Reports Over 1,000 COVID-19 Cases For Fourth Consecutive Day

The Utah Department of Health reported an additional 1,068 test-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Utah and five new deaths from the disease Sunday

This is the fourth consecutive day the state reported more than 1,000 new cases.In an email, health department spokesperson Charla Haley said the five new deaths include a Salt Lake County man between ages 25 and 44 who was hospitalized.

It is uncommon to lose Utahns under age 45 to the virus; according to health department data, only 17 Utahns in the 25-44 range have died of COVID-19 so far. The average age of Utahns who die because of the virus is just over 73 years old.
 
Utah County accounts for 396 of Sunday's new cases while Salt Lake County had 427 cases.
180 Utahns are hospitalized with the new coronavirus, including 76 in intensive care. That's down from 187 Utahns hospitalized the day before.
