Utah’s Employment Summary: 35,600 Utah Jobs Have Been Added Since 2019

According to data released from the Utah Department of Workforce Services, Utah’s nonfarm payroll employment for April 2021 saw an estimated rise of 2.3% over the past 24 months. The state added a total of 35,600 jobs since April 2019. Currently, approximately 46,600 Utahns remain unemployed. In addition, the new data showed that April’s national unemployment rate moved up to 6.1% recently.

Mark Knold, Chief Economist at the Department of Workforce Services, said a typical year's worth of Utah employment growth took about two years to reach, which he called “commendable” considering the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
