In a 6-3, party-line vote, the Salt Lake County Council votes to overturn the public health school mask order issued by county health director Dr. Angela Dunn. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints issues a call to its members to wear masks and get vaccinated. And new census figures cement Utah's place as the fastest growing state in the nation.

Utah is the nation’s fastest growing state and, thanks to that, remained its youngest over the last decade even as the rest of the country got older, according to new data released by the Census Bureau on Thursday.

The U.S. Census Bureau is encouraging residents of tribal areas to respond now to the 2020 census, as the deadline has been extended to Oct. 31.

U.S. Census workers will start in-person visits to households that have not yet responded to the 2020 census. The first phase begins in six locations across the country. They include cities in Connecticut, Indiana, Kansas, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington.

With few exceptions, United States citizens living abroad are not counted in the census-- including missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Many missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have been sent home early or relocated due to the coronavirus. With 2020 being a census year, these missionaries and their families may have confusion about where their location should be reported as.

In March, Census field operations were delayed to protect workers. This week, field operations have resumed in some parts of the country, including Salt Lake City and Orem.
