Bighorn sheep don’t sound good coughing. And biologists warn it’s the sign of sheeps’ number one killer - pneumonia.

Moab’s sweeping vistas, roaring whitewater and unique wildlife make it a hotspot for river rafting, helicopter tour, and for conflict over recreation impacts. The Bureau of Land Management’s Moab field office recently nullified their decision and canceled a special recreation permit for a helicopter shuttle, pending further study on impacts to desert bighorn sheep.

Zion Bighorn Sheep Herd Infected With Pneumonia

A few bighorn sheep in the Zions National Park herd have been diagnosed with a sheep-specific strain of pneumonia. While the number of infected sheep is currently less than 10, that number could change every day and two sheep have already been euthanized for testing.

A well-known hunting guide won’t be hunting in Utah or 46 other states anytime soon. The Arizona man illegally harvested a desert bighorn sheep in southern Utah.
