Weber School District is overhauling the way it deals with racism and discrimination with new policies and plans to hire a new administrator to focus on the issues.

School officials say they want to change the culture at the district, both in the ways they deal with specific instances and in encouraging students to speak out if they see something that isn't right.

The former head of Utah Valley University's anti-discrimination office has filed a lawsuit accusing the school of unfairly firing her after she raised concerns about potential discrimination against women and non-Mormons.

Melissa Frost said Tuesday that she faced retaliation for whistleblowing about the university's hiring practices and disregard for reports of harassment. She filed a lawsuit in state court last week.

In light of multiple social media claims of sexual assault and discrimination in a university music program, officials from Utah State University hired an outside organization to investigate.

A Utah family who sued the Boy Scouts of America for policies they claimed discriminated against their son with Down syndrome has withdrawn the lawsuit after the organization said it would help the boy earn his Eagle Scout award.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports that attorneys for 15-year-old Logan Blythe's family met March 27 with national Boy Scouts representatives.
