Police say a car with a sticker of a Utah online gun marketplace was found vandalized after a Sandy town hall on gun reform.

The car owner reported to police Saturday night that someone had scratched lines and a vulgar word into the paint on the side of his vehicle.

A coalition of Utah officials are recommending the state create a waiting period for people wanting to buy guns, require background checks on all firearm sales and make it easier to take guns away from people believed to be a threat.

The 11 recommendations released by the Utah Safe Schools Safety Commission Wednesday were developed in the wake of the school shooting in Parkland, Florida.

At least one gunman opened fire at a Houston-area high school Friday, killing eight to 10 people, most of them students, authorities said.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said he could not be precise about the number of deaths at Santa Fe High School, which went on lockdown around 8 a.m. Two suspects believed to be students were in custody.

Gov. Gary Herbert says he'd support more gun control measures as Utah legislators have signaled they'll look at how the state can prevent school shootings.

Herbert said in an interview with Politico's "Off Message" podcast Friday that he might support restrictions on large capacity magazines and raising the legal age to buy assault-style rifles from 18 to 21.

The owner of a Utah gun store says he has taken down a sign with an advertisement for an assault rifle after a number of complaints from what he calls "anti-gun people."

Darin Kendall, operations manager for Impact Guns in Ogden, says the ad for the "Radical AR-15" was posted before 17 people were killed in a mass school shooting in south Florida on Valentine's Day.

The event planned for March 24 takes a cue from students marching on the Florida state capital after surviving a school shooting that killed 17 people as part of a national campaign called March For Our Lives.
