Parents are suing to overturn the legislation banning mask mandates in Utah schools.

Although there is no statewide mask mandate in Utah, several schools in the state are now requiring masks to be worn for the coming school year. 

Grand County School District Announces Mask Mandate

Elementary students in the Grand County School District will be required to wear masks indoors. This will be the only school district in Utah with a mask mandate.

In a 6-3, party-line vote, the Salt Lake County Council votes to overturn the public health school mask order issued by county health director Dr. Angela Dunn. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints issues a call to its members to wear masks and get vaccinated. And new census figures cement Utah's place as the fastest growing state in the nation.



In May, the Utah legislature voted to ban school districts from requiring masks in classrooms. Now it is up to local health departments to help schools combat COVID-19.

Eleven people now face criminal charges after disrupting a school board meeting last week in response to an attendee not being allowed to address the board.

According to a KSL report, the woman was not allowed to address the Granite School Board because she failed to sign up to speak prior to the meeting. 

The crowd protested and started to chant the phrases “remember this day” and “no more masks”.

The Utah legislature is set to discuss whether to ban mask requirements in schools in a special session on Wednesday, according to Deseret News. Gov. Spencer Cox included the issue in his call for the special session issued Monday morning.


During the last week of the school year, masks will no longer be required for students in Utah’s K-12 schools.

Utah Business Owner Calling On Cox To Veto End Game Bill

A Utah business owner is calling on Gov. Spencer Cox to veto the bill that would end Utah’s mask mandate on April 10 because he says many essential workers who provide face-to-face services will not be fully vaccinated by then.
