“Bon giorno!” That’s how Governor Herbert, fresh off a trade mission to Europe, greeted the press corps at his monthly press conference on Thursday. Executives from 23 Utah companies traveled with the Governor, who said that the state is starting to gain real recognition on the world stage.

The access and sustainability of the Jordan River Parkway are threatened by a large set of issues affecting the state as a whole.  Salt Lake County and the Jordan River Foundation invited design teams to submit their ideas for a segment of the parkway to attract creative solutions to conserve and promote river and spark public conversation.  Organizers are now inviting the public to share their voice on these ideas.

Health officials say two people in Salt Lake County have died after they were infected with hepatitis A from an outbreak that originally spread from San Diego.

The Salt Lake County Health Department said in a news release Tuesday that one person died at the end of March and the other in January. The department declined to release gender, age or names for the victims, citing health privacy laws.

A judge has dismissed sexual assault charges against a 53-year-old Utah inmate after the alleged victim failed to show up in court to testify.

David Swigart already was serving time for sexually abusing a woman when he was charged with several new counts in November after DNA testing linked him to the rape of a woman walking to a Salt Lake County busy stop in 2010.

The director of the nonprofit that's leading homeless-reform in Utah's Salt Lake County has announced where its new shelter for men will be located.

A shelter for single men will be built in South Salt Lake. Two additional shelters will be built in Salt Lake City: one for women only and the other for single men and single women.

Salt Lake County officials have approved a $700,000 plan to allow Sheriff Jim Winder to begin sending county inmates to other jails in the state to deal with issues of overcrowding.

The county council voted unanimously in favor of the plan on Tuesday.
