Lawmakers in conservative Utah have rejected a bill to allow police to temporarily confiscate guns of those deemed to be a threat.

The so-called "red flag" bill is similar to proposals a number of other states are debating in the wake of a school shooting in Parkland, Florida last month that killed 17.

Governor Gary Herbert’s Wednesday press conference included a discussion of mass shootings and how to prevent them. The exchange started with a question from Bob Bernick of Utah Policy.
