Cedar City Bank Robbery Causes School Lockdown

An afternoon bank robbery in Cedar City not only put police on alert for the suspect, but also led to the lockdown of a nearby middle school.

At approximately 1:30 pm, an older white male entered the Mountain American Credit Union and handed the teller a note demanding money. The suspect received an undisclosed amount of cash and left the building.

Cedar middle school is close in proximity to the credit union. School administrators locked the school down as a precaution, and even as the school day came to an end did not initially allow students to leave unless by school bus, or with a parent.

The suspect was last seen wearing faded blue jeans, a green shirt, and a light green baseball style hat. He was also wearing a green coat with a tan collar.
