Hunting tags still available for 2013 season

Division of wildlife resources, dwr utah

As the hunting season approaches, there are still some tags available but acquiring them may require a little patience.

More than 3,000 general archery or muzzleloader permits were not taken in the Utah draw this year, and the remaining permits will go on sale Thursday at 8 a.m.

Judi Tutorow, wildlife licensing coordinator for the Division of Wildlife Resources, said sometimes the website has trouble handling all the requests from different people trying to buy a permit at the same time.

Tutorow was quoted on the DWR website that, “once enough people have accessed the site, a message will pop up indicating the site has reached its maximum capacity.” If that happens, Tutorow said visitors, “should be able to access the site again in a few minutes.”

Most permits available are for Northern Utah, including Box Elder, Cache, Kamas, Ogden and Chalk Creek/East Canyon/Morgan South Rich.

Archery permits will be valid from August 17 to September 13, while muzzleloader permits will be valid September 25 to October 3 of this year.

Youth archery permits will also go on sale Thursday morning, for 30 areas across the state, valid August 17 to September 13.
