DWR Among Finalists For Yellowstone Bison Genetics Experiment

The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is one of five finalists to take 145 bison from Yellowstone National Park for a genetic experimental program.

Ten entities originally submitted proposals to participate, and Montana Fish and Wildlife and Parks officials announced the finalists Monday. Among the four other finalists are Native American Tribes, Wildlife Conservation Society and the American Prarie Reserve.

The bison were captured from the park in 2005 and 2006 and have since been tested for disease. Until an organization received the herd, they're living at a Bozeman, Mont. ranch.
