Police say two people were injured after a THC extraction lab explosion inside a home in the Salt Lake City metro area.

The explosion was reported at the Millcreek home Tuesday afternoon.

Unified Police Sgt. Melody Gray says a 33-year-old woman was transported to a hospital in critical condition with burns to her face, arms and neck, as well as injuries caused from the explosion.

A 30-year-old man suffered minor injuries and was not transported to a hospital.

THC or tetrahydrocannabinol is the active ingredient of cannabis.

Gray didn't go too much into detail about the lab but said it was illegal.

Gray says charges will likely be filed in the case.
